Classic Modernism Meets Contemporary Art
“Art in the Dialogue of Times” at Studio Meinck in Bad Kissingen

With the exhibition “Art in the Dialogue of Times”, Studio Meinck presents an extraordinary encounter of important works of classical modernism with renowned contemporary positions from sculpture, painting and plastic art from 10 June to 19 July 2026.

The exhibition focuses on the artists Klaus Metz, Heike Maria Metz and Harald Reiner Gratz, whose works are characterized by great independence, expressiveness and artistic depth. Her works enter into an exciting dialogue with works of classical modernism from the Mück Collection, including works by Wassily Kandinsky, Marc Chagall, Oskar Kokoschka and Alberto Giacometti.
The sculptor Klaus Metz has been working in his studio in the Franconian Rhön for more than three decades. His sculptures made of bronze, wood, basalt and stone are characterized by archaic
calm, clear formal language and a haunting presence. Whether animal sculptures, female torsos, sacred works or landscape sculptures – his works concentrate on the essentials and develop a timeless expressiveness from them. In addition to seriousness and poetic depth, there is also a fine humor in many works that opens the viewer’s gaze in a special way.
The artist Heike Maria Metz, born in Bad Kissingen, creates poetic visual worlds at the interface of architecture, memory and imagination. Fragments of sacred spaces, castles,
monasteries and ancient ruins condense into atmospheric compositions full of mystery and emotional resonance. Between reality and vision, works of quiet intensity emerge that transform architecture into personal spaces of memory.
The painter Harald Reiner Gratz, who comes from Schmalkalden, develops an unmistakable visual language of great colour intensity and narrative power in his works. Landscapes,
everyday motifs and architectural fragments are transformed into atmospherically dense pictorial spaces between representational perception and surreal condensation. His works combine regional roots with universal imagery and open up new levels of visual discovery.
The exhibition combines different artistic signatures and generations into an open dialogue about form, material, memory and expression. The presentation is complemented by selected jewellery designs by the Meinck jewellery studio, which expand the idea of the dialogue between
art, body and object in a special way.
With this exhibition, Studio Meinck sets a special cultural accent in the summer art and concert program of the spa town of Bad Kissingen and creates a place of encounter
between classical art tradition and contemporary artistic position.
