Sisi – Monument
The Altenberg was the preferred residence of Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary. During her stays in Bad Kissingen she spent a lot of time with long walks on this mountain. At that time, due to significantly fewer trees, it still offered magnificent views of Bad Kissingen and the Saale Valley. The Empress's last stay took place just a few months before her sudden death by an assassin. In honor of the Empress, popularly known as "Sissi", a plaque was erected in 1907, which is located directly behind the idyllically located round temple.
